1. 1. Clean and/or wipe off your pumpkin. Make sure your pumpkin has a flat and stable base to ensure that it stands securely.
2. 2. Sketch your desired facial design. Remember, the mouth of the pumpkin should be large enough for hands to reach in and retrieve delicious Halloween candy! Give your pumpkin a BIG smile, with teeth or fangs.
3. 3. If you are using an artificial pumpkin, skip to step 4. If you’re using a real pumpkin, use your pumpkin carving kit or knife to carefully cut a hole at the top of the pumpkin. After the top is removed, scoop out the pulp and seeds from the inside. Be thorough with the cleaning process, so you have a clean and hollow pumpkin to work with. Once your pumpkin is emptied and clean, you can then place the top back onto the pumpkin.
4. 4. Using a knife or pumpkin carving tools, carefully carve out your pumpkin’s mouth design. Remember, if you’re using a real pumpkin, make sure the inside is clean and dry before proceeding to step 5.
5. 5. Let the painting begin! Decorate your new ghoulish friend however you’d like. We went with a black bat, a green witch, and a beige ghost. You can also add additional festive Halloween décor, such as placing a witch's hat on top of the pumpkin or attaching bat cutouts to the sides for an extra touch of Halloween spirit!
6. 6. Once the paint has dried and you’re done decorating, fill the pumpkin candy bowl with your desired Mars Halloween Candy.
